Triumph Tiger Explorer XCx

The Triumph Tiger Explorer XCx is a Transcontinental Adventure bike launched in 2017. It is the ultimate go anywhere motorcycle with immense power and advanced features. The Explorer XCx version combines the Tiger 800 Xcx and the standard Tiger Explorer. The 2018 model is packed full of rider focused technology and features that may aid the user for long distance rides. This unique triple engine delivers best-in class power, performance and fuel efficiency.



The Engine and Performance
At the heart of XCx is a unique 1215cc, triple engine featuring 12 valves, DOHC system and fuel injection. The engine meets the Euro 4 and BS4 emission standards but also gives the family distinctive exhaust note which is peculiar for the Triumph triple cylinders. This engine is teamed up with 6-speed gearbox and delivers a maximum power of 137 bhp @ 9300 rpm and peak torque of 121 Nm @ 6400 rpm. Here, conventional chain driven final drive has been replaced by a shaft drive. These are more reliable with low-maintenance than chain drives.



Moreover, the XCx features Triumph's highly acclaimed Riding Mode Technology offering Road, Rain and Off-Road riding modes, which can be pre-selected by the rider using a switch. It also gets Ride-by-wire technology and 6-axis IMU.

The Looks and Features
It is one of the rider oriented motorcycles that is currently available in India. The cockpit features redefined ergonomics with all new switchgear, LCD display and electronically adjustable windscreen at the front. The bug-eyed headlamp upfront resembles the Tiger family DNA. This is one of the unique features of the Tiger range of bikes, which one can easily identify the bike from a distance. The Tiger Explorer offers a tough and commanding stance with their unique body panels, well-crafted body lines and other styling outfits. It looks modern and assertive at the same time.

The brand new XCx too is studded with some exotic features like Optimised Cornering ABS, Traction Control, Triumph Semi Active Suspension, Cruise Control, On Board Computer, self-canceling LED indicators, heated grips, cast wheels and USB power socket. There are few additional features in this motorcycle which enhances its off-road trailing like engine protection bars, aluminium bars, stainless radiator guards and hand guards.

Chassis, Suspension and Braking
Triumph has designed the chassis of their Tiger models to add exceptional dynamism and adventure riding. The primary chassis is a tubular steel trellis frame which is connected to the single-sided, cast aluminium alloy with shaft drive. Moreover, it also features market leading WP monoshock and USD suspension with Triumph's Semi Active Suspension System at the rear and front respectively. Radially mounted monobloc floating calipers with dual 305 mm disc at the front and single 282 mm disc with Nissin 2-piston slider caliper controls the braking system. A switchable ABS system is employed at both the ends.
