Unveiling the Jupiter scooter, TVS Motor Company Chairman and Managing Director, Mr. Venu Srinivasan, said that the company would launch a bike in every quarter. The firm discloses that this strategy is to strengthen the firm itself in the Indian market.
Meanwhile, Mr. Srinivasan confirmed that the firm would be introducing the next machine in the Scooty Series, the Scooty Zest on 1st January, 2014. With that the Scooty line-up will hold 3 bi-wheelers in the garage. The Scooty Streak, and the Scooty Pep Plus are the other feminine-rollers in the league.
Recently, the firm had launched a scooter, the Jupiter, which is based on the Wego platform. The Jupiter also shares the same 109.7cc, 4 Stroke,Single cylinder, Air Cooled,OHC engine, which delivers a peak power of 8 bhp @ 7500 rpm and a peak torque of 8 Nm @ 5500 rpm.
"Every quarter from now, you can expect there will be a new bike from TVS going forward. Currently, our market share is about 13.5 per cent. Through this, we are looking at 16-17 per cent in the scooter segment. We will do about 30,000 between Wego and Jupiter," said Mr. Srinivasan.
Presently, the firm sells 35,000 units scooters per annum and wants to increase it to 50,000 units by December, 2014. Then further more with the upcoming Scooty Zest.
