The CB Shine has been a powerful presence for the Japanese firm since its launch in India back in 2006. Thanks to the entire Honda team for keeping the machine updated and refreshed periodically. The great news for all Honda and commuter bike seekers is that Honda has recently launched the updated 2014 version of its most successful motorcycle of all time in India, the CB Shine. Well, the all new machine comes with some refreshments in looks. Let’s have a detailed review on the same.
Looks
Here are the things got changed. All glory goes to the designers behind it, who kept the machine alive in the market. Now the CB Shine is available in two new colours namely Pearl Amazing White and Dual Tone Red and Black colours. Meanwhile, Honda continues the existing black, Geny Grey Metallic and Rebel Red Metallic colours. Meantime, the rest looks the same and certainly owns a classic look.
Engine, and Performance
Honda hasn’t made any tweak at the engine side. The firm might have thought of having the same engine for few more months. Its 124.7cc, Air-cooled, 4-stroke, SI engine is still powerful enough to race and to compete with other machines in the class. The heart is powered by a max power of 7.55 KW @ 7500 rpm, and a max torque of 10.54 Nm @ 5500 rpm. The powertrain is run by a 4-speed transmission. The CB Shine generates enough power to be on the top list of the chart of 125cc commuter bikes in the country.
Ergonomics, Handling, and Riding Comfy
It’s after all a Honda motorcycle, which is considered as the best two wheeler manufacturer in the world. So there is nothing wrong if one hopes and expects much about a Honda stuff before he/she drives it. Well, the Shine is no different. It has all powers of the Japanese wing. Although the bike looks little short, it’s a good option for commuter riders. However, the CB Shine might be the worst experience for tall and fat guys. And the rest stuffs are fine.
Mileage
Honda knows that the Indians prefer to have a minimal running cost motorcycle. So, fuel efficiency is as important as the quality of the machine. Making no compromise, Honda offers a stunning mileage of 65 kmpl under standard condition. And one could easily get 55-60 kmpl in normal rides.
Verdict
Presently, the CB Shine is the best selling motorcycle of HMSI (Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India) and what more one needs to opt it if he/she is looking for a 100 or 125cc motorcycle? Absolutely nothing! At the same time, Honda has a strong competitor – Hero Glamour. And the choice might be between the Shine and the Glamour for the most of the people. The CB Shine has to be opted for it’s more powerful, and more reliable. While, the Glamour gains points for better ergonomics, matching reliability, and unmatched service facilities. So take your call.
