A Desert Sled is any motorcycle over 500 cc, modified and ridden by riders in the Californian desert. A standard Desert Sled is equipped with knobbly tyres, highly reinforced suspensions, robust spoked wheels and high functioning engine protection plates, to survive the harshest conditions of the desert.
And as the name goes, Scrambler Desert Sled is an offering from Ducati preserving the same legacy of the Desert Sled and holds a proud heritage of being one of the mighty off-roading motorcycles that ruled the deserts and hefty mountains of California back in the 60s and 70s.
The mighty Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled sits on an L-Twin 803 cc air and oil-cooled engine with Desmodromic distribution that fires out 75 bhp of power at 8,250 rpm and 68 Nm of torque at 5,750 rpm. The engine of the Sled is mated with a 6-speed gearbox.
This Scrambler is an evolution of the Urban Enduro version and comes with a strong Tubular steel Trellis frame, higher seat, spoked aluminium wheels, high front and long rear mudguard, Kayaba rear shock suspension and a double-sided swingarm. A Pirelli SCORPION RALLY STR tyres are provided in the bike with ABS as standard equipment.
The Scrambler Desert Sled follows Euro 4 Emissions norms and the motorcycle is available in ‘Red Dusk’ and ‘White Mirage’ shade variants and is priced at INR 9,32,000 and INR 9,45,000 (Ex-showroom, New Delhi) respectively.
