Kawasaki Motors has finally launched their most anticipated and long waited models like Z900 and Z650 in the country along with the 2017 Ninja 300, Ninja 650 and Versys 650. The Z900 and Z650 are two new models slotted under the famous Z-series. The popularity and demand of the Z1000, 800 and 250 has resulted the company to introduce brand new products in the India line-up.
The 2017 Ninja 300 and Ninja 650 are priced at 3.64 lakh and 5.69 lakh respectively. Meanwhile, there is no hike in the price for new Versys 650, which is priced at Rs 6.60 lakh. Main attraction of the event was the much awaited new street fighter, the Z900. A 948cc, in-line 4 cylinder motor delivers a maximum power of 123.6 bhp @ 9500 rpm and a peak torque of 98.6 Nm @ 7700 rpm. The bike sits on a newly developed trellis frame which weighs around 210.5 kg and scales upto 2070 mm in length. On the other hand, Z650 is powered by the 649cc, 4-stroke, 2-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine with DOHC system. The mill churns out a maximum power of 67.9 bhp @ 8000 rpm and a peak torque of 65.7 Nm @ 6500 rpm. This new model will be placed above Z250 and below the new Z900.
The updated Ninja 650 gets a refined and more comfort riding position. The bike loos more sportier than the previous model with the new ZX-10R inspired headlights and fairings. It gets slipper clutch, new swing arm and a lighter twin-spar frame. The other models like Versys 650 and Ninja 300 does not features major cosmetic changes, but one could feel freshness all around the machine. The 2017 Versys 650 has used many styling elements from the 1000cc Versys, while the Ninja 300 gets new paint schemes and body graphics.
It is the first time Kawasaki India is launching 2 new models and updated version of other 3 on-going models in a single launch event. This alone shows how Kawasaki is seeing the Indian Motorcycle market for this new year.
