The Ninja 650 uses a very powerful 649cc Liquid-cooled, 4-stroke Parallel Twin Parallel Twin engine that has the capacity to churn out 72.1 PS @ 8500 RPM and a very healthy torque figure of 64 N.m @ 7000 RPM. Kawasaki has given Digital Fuel Injection, Keihin 38 mm Dual Throttle bodies as its fuel system along with a TCBI with Electronic Advance as its ignition system configuration. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
The parallel twin engine of the Ninja 650 is tuned to provide formidable mid-range power and torque and enables the sports bike to have a very balanced and good power characteristics. The engine showcases rider-friendly character ideal for beginners riders and provides good performance and simple handling that leaves a sense of satisfaction for the rider.
Chassis, Suspension & Braking
The Ninja 650 uses a brand new Trellis, high-tensile steel chassis which is very lighter and slimmer with improved rigidity and this enhances the riding comfort and contributes an overall weight reduction of 42 lbs when compared with the previous model.
The suspension setup of the Ninja 650 is done with 41 mm telescopic fork at the front and a Horizontal Back-link with adjustable preload at the rear. The suspension setup works in par with the chassis and enhances the overall ride quality. The braking system of the 650 is done with Dual semi-floating ø300 mm petal discs at the front and a Single ø220 mm petal disc.
