BMW Motorrad has its own style to celebrate occasions. And it's not surprising as the firm celebrate its 90th Anniversary by launching the R nineT and stole the occasion quiet colorfully. The company introduced the R nineT at an event in Munich, Germany.
“The big vision for this thing (the nineT) was precision and emotion. In this segment, we wanted to have a rather emotional thing as opposed to a 100% functional machine. We actually sacrificed things like comfort and rain protection because you don’t need it on this thing. Here, emotion is much more important,” said Edgar Heinrich, Head of BMW Motorrad Design.
The R nineT is the cafe racer of BMW that extremely carries the traditional outfit, not the modern comfort and features. Powered by a 1170cc, Air/oil-cooled flat twin ('Boxer') 4-stroke engine, two camshafts and four radially aligned valves per cylinder, central balancer shaft engine, the bike delivers a max power of 81 kW (110 hp) at 7,550 rpm and a max torque of 119 Nm at 6.000 rpm. Its heart is coupled with a Constant mesh 6-speed gearbox with helical gear teeth.
The highlight of the R nineT is that the bike is fully handmade. BMW has purposefully chosen the classic Black storm metallic with contrasting silver and metallic color shade in order to match the character of the nineT.
