TVS Apache RTR 200 4V

TVS is the only Indian bike maker with a spirited heart for improving engine refinement and riding abilities. Unlike Bajaj and Hero, who only aims at the market shares and sales figures, TVS always works to bring out the best from their models. After joining hands with BMW Motorrad in R&D department, their styling and some technical features has improved. Their latest offering, the new Apache RTR 200V is the finest example for that. It looks similar to the most anticipated BMW G310R. There are many things we have to know about Apache.

Engine & Chassis
TVS uses a powerful 198cc, single cylinder, 4-stroke, oil-cooled engine, capable of producing 20 PS power @ 8500 rpm in carburetor version and 21 PS power in the fuel injector version and a peak torque of 18.1 Nm @ 7000 rpm. It uses 4 valves in the cylinder head and that is what 4V stands for. Engine uses an oil-cooled combustion chamber by means of an oil jacket around the chamber and this unique technology is patent by TVS. Along with this, RAM air-assisted cooling reduces the engine heat by 10 degree celcius and high combustion Nano Friks (combination of nano particles, solid lubricants and additives) coated piston reduces engine noise and also shields cylinder walls from wear and tear. Engine is mated with a 5-speed gearbox.



Apache uses a racing origin double cradle split synchro stiff frame as the main chassis. It ensures total control of the bike at high speeds and tight corners.



Suspension & Braking
One of the highlighted feature of new RTR is the use of race tuned KYB monoshock suspension with floating chambers at the rear and telescopic forks are used at the front. In order to maintain the perfect track balance, precision tuned compression and rebound damping is maintained.



In the braking department TVS has used pro-racing spec Dual- ABS channel with RLP control for enhanced safety. It uses 270mm petal type disc at the front and 240mm petal disc at the rear wheel. DOT 3 & 4 type brake fluids are used here.



Stylish Features
Starting from the head, new smaller headlamp with DRLs gives a new aggressive appeal to the bike. New improved larger fuel tank cowl and engine cowl beneath it shows the racing characters of new Apache. Along with that, a new multi-information instrument panel with gear shift indicator, speedometer, tachometer, odometer, trip meter, fuel level indicator, battery indicator, service reminder and for the track purpose stuffs like lap timer, split timer, top speed clock and even system health messages are displayed. Racing oriented split foam-in place seats are used in new Apache. Beefy racing spec tyres are featured in the rear alloy wheels, which gives supreme road grip and visual beauty. Race spec Pirelli Sport Angel tyres are also featured. Not only that, a stainless steel made double barrel exhaust provides a racing roar to the new Apache.





Performance
TVS motorcycles under the badge of TVS Racing, is very keen on their performing bikes. No one has to think twice regarding performance and handling of TVS bikes, especially their flagship model Apache RTR. This 200cc motorcycle can hit a top speed of 129 kmph (EFI version) with an ease. It can cruise from o to 100 kmph in 12 seconds, thanks to their racing spec aerodynamic styling. After all shredding this much power and torque, this engine is very fuel efficient with an overall mileage of 41 kmpl. Unlike the flagships of Bajaj and Hero, this one is a master in its cornering ability and riding comfort.

Dimensions
This particular TVS weighs around 140 kg (dry weight) and it weighs 8 more kg when it is filled with liquids. The 2050mm long bike has a wheelbase of 1353mm and seat height is to be around 800mm. The new larger fuel tank holds 12 litres of fuel and the reserve tank is capable of storing 2.5 litres. The new Apache looks smaller and leaner from the previous models.

Verdict
Being the flag bearer of TVS, Apache is one serious motorcycle with many attractive features and sufficient safety standards. It has all the TVS Racing elements in every single detail of this bike. The only minor drawback Apache facing now is its outfit. Every single features of this machine is based on race spec, but the TVS engineered could have done it better in the external part. It doesn't look like something with these many advanced features. Afterall this particular TVS is meant for pure adrenalin rushers and it is available at a price range starting from, Rs 89,215 to Rs 94,215 (ex-showroom Delhi) in 7 different tones.
