The Apache RTR 180 is the flagship motorcycle of TVS. What makes the Apache 180 different from other sports-inspired motorcycle is that it is the first two-wheeler in India to comes up with ABS technology. The TVS has followed a racing inspired design and making to the new Apache RTR 180 ABS, this can be seen in the redesigned fenders, headlamps, taillights and the fuel tank. A golden colour forks and rear shocks can be seen on this bike, which is inspired by the sports bikes.
The Apache follows an aerodynamic razored design which gives the bike a perpetual motion at all speeds. A beast inspired headlamps are given to this naked bike which will instal the furiousness of a pair of intense animalistic eyes that is to take on the tracks with maximum agility. The muscled engine cowl, Sculpted Digital Display, have nocturnal blue black lit display & race-inspired carbon fibre cues makes sure that the Apache is all game for a show while on the roads.
Engine
The Apache RTR 180 comes with a powerful 177.7cc engine that produces a power of 17.03 bhp of power @8500 rpm and an impressive 15.5 Nm torque @ 6500 rpm. TVS has made the bike very aggressive on its performance and this can be felt while riding it, that on paper.
The sports styled and powerful engine tops the highways and gives out impressive mileage at the same time too. This 180cc engine manages to have a top speed of 134 kmph, which is higher than any other 180cc biked in India. What makes this naked beauty perform even better is the lightweight design showcased by TVS while building this bike. The Apache RTR 180 ABS comes around at a dry weight of 139 kg, which is very light in weight when compared to other bikes in the same class.
Chassis, Suspension and Braking
The Apache uses the Double Cradle SynchroSTIFF chassis and this holds the engine and other components together and also gives out impressive stability and rigidity making the engine to deliver maximum performance to the bike.
The Apache RTR 180 ABS is the first bike in India to be equipped with an AB breaking system, and this changeover was a revolution at that time when the Indian bikes lagged behinds with disc brakes and drum brakes. The bike uses 270mm Petal Disc with ABS & RLP in the front section and a 200mm Petal Disc with ABS & RLP at the rear.
The braking power of the Apache is very respectable and the bike manages to have a strong half from top speeds within a few seconds. To make the bike, even more, stickier on the roads and reliable for uneven terrains, tubeless tyres are provided as stock in this motorcycle.
Verdict
With the sports-inspired making, highly performance oriented engine, and ABS braking technology, the RTR 180 ABS will be a sure thing to buy in a budget range. When it comes to the design aspects, the new Apaches may fall behind in getting the love and attention attracted by the old Apaches in the past. However, the inclusion of golden coloured forks and muscled looks are a real head turned and these kinds of detailed sports-inspired styling are the most notable cosmetic appearances ever comes on a naked sports bike on a budget. All these things, makes the Apache RTR 180 ABS to be a sporty naked bike worth riding for.
