Suzuki entered the premium 150cc segment with their 155cc powered Gixxer range of bikes. It is said to be the game changing model for the Japanese brand in India. This street commuter was purposely built for the Indian and nearby market. It is based on the all time popular GSX-R range of premium sports bikes. This one primarily targets on style, fuel efficiency, minimal performance and the cost effective production.
The Design
The engineers of Suzuki has well crafted this bike according to the latest trend and demand in the market. This naked looking street bike have many sharp characters throughout its body, especially those sharp lines which runs from head to tail. The triangular shaped headlamp with bikini fairing is an eye catchy element. Side panels bearing the ‘Gixxer’ badge is incorporated as an extended part of the fuel tank. The sculpted fuel tank is the other attention seeking element in this bike. It gives a manly bossing nature to the model. It also bears a ‘3D Suzuki logo’ in glossy chrome finish.
In order to give an aggressive look to the model, they have made the tail section bit sharp and more attractive. The body colored grab rails and the use of LED taillight has made it even more presentable. The carved out seat provides a spot on riding position with the perfect combination of wide one-piece handlebar.
Features
Gixxer features full digital smart instrument console displaying RPM Indicator, LCD trip meter, gear position indicator and programmable gear shift indicator as well. Another unique feature of the Gixxer series is the dual-type exhaust kit, which is used for the first time in a 150cc motorcycle. It gives a premium looks to the bike as well as delivers a smooth exhaust note. The ‘Y’ shaped alloy wheels are usually found in high end GSX-R bikes and Hayabusa models are also used in the Gixxer variant. Altogether, the fit and finish of the bike is superb and it definitely stands with the quality built of Suzuki motorcycles.
Engine
It uses the 154.9cc, 4-stroke, single cylinder, air-cooled, SOHC, 2-valve engine found in the all Gixxer range of motorcycles. It is mated with a 5-speed manual gearbox for smooth operation. The mill churns out a maximum power of 14.8 Ps @ 8000 rpm and a peak torque of 14 Nm @ 6000 rpm. The engine is constructed using all aluminium ultra light weight component for maximum efficiency and top class power performance.
Suspension, Chassis and Brakes
Suzuki Gixxer is built with single downtube frame. At the front conventional telescopic forks with 41mm diameter are used for sporty styling and riding performance. At the back combined effort of swingarm and mono shock with 7-step adjustment provides flexibility and riding comfort for various riders. Disc brakes are used for smooth and optimum stopping force at both the ends. The 17-inch MRF tyres are perfect combination for braking, providing superior grips on the tarmac.
The Verdict
The Suzuki Gixxer is a perfectly balanced 150cc bike with perfect riding posture, interesting design culture, well balanced chassis, finely tuned engine and fairly tagged price. It competes well with Yamaha FZ series, Honda Unicorn and even horns with CB Hornet 160R.

Km I need 55+ mileage at 70 to 80km/hr
Any of you plz suggest me
What the mileage give
Monday to Saturday arround 600
Monthly it touch 1700km
Costing plz
I bought Red Gixxer almost a month ago. I have completed 600 km. Awesome bike. feel very confidant while driving as bike balance is very good.
I drive my bike at speed of below 60 kmph and below 4500 rpm.
Gixxer given me 44-46 kmpl mileage before 1st service. After 1st servicing its giving me around 52 kmpl.
I was initially confused about buying 150 cc bike.
I took a test drive of bike. I found some points about Gixxer which make it distinguishing. I wish to buy this just need last opinion.
1. It is 154.5 cc and not 149.5 cc.
[More powerful than FZS FI]
2. Bike length is more than FZS FI
[More Stability]
3. Indicators are rubbery and foldable.
[No mechanical damage if lateral running vehicle hits it.]
4. SEP Suzuki Eco Performance
[Improves mileage]
5. Carburettor engine
[FZS FI has fuel injection. No comparison here But, fuel air mixing would be good]
6. Muscular body with stylish muffler and colours.
[Impressive looks]
7. Digital panel for tacho, rpm and odo.
[More readable with many options on display]
8. Driver and pillion seat is joined.
[More space than split seat]
9. Tubeless tyres.
[No puncture issue]
10. Very smooth engine
[Very low vibration while long drive]
11. Low cost 84k on road (Sangli M.C. Area)
[6k less than FZS FI]
12. Old ladies can not sit comfortably. So,
somewhat tedious to drive with mother.
Still, A perfect reverse engineering! If you look through different angles, you will notice different plus points of all the bikes including Yamaha FZS FI 2.0, Hero Hunk, Hero Xtreme, Honda Trigger, Bajaj Pulsar, KTM duke etc. (not a limited list)
If my points are correct, please tell me you views. Gixxer users plz help.
Mai so me pad gya hu Honda k trrigar lu ya gixxer
Bhai plz help ye 2 bike me kon s achha hai yar
Plz jaldi batao doat
Mother as a pillon rider I don't think so. Pillon seat is a bit small and slopy.
Gixxer have only one model which comes with 155cc
Handling is superb and sitting is very comfortable.
But I am disappointed with the mileage, company is claiming 63km/l but It's actual mileage in city road is just 35km/l which is very low comparative to what company claims.
And many of the guys who have bought this and claiming mileage of 45-50km/l should recheck it.
Except mileage everything else is superb.
But i would love to buy it . its simply stylish
power mode will consume more fuel and with best performance
Economy mode will consume less fuel and good performance saves money
i wanna going to purchase ds bike ds diwali . waiting vigorously.
can any one tell. by adjusting the monoshock suspension seat height of gixxer can be changed?? plzz rply
seat height ??
i want to buy new bike, but am totally confused that which one is better, kindly give a suggestion . iam looking for 50-55 km/ltr and comfortable price.
There is ECO mode in gixxer using we can lock RMP of engine to specific limit as per my dealer told me.
So check whether ur gixxer have ECO mode is ON.
but price . is too high
In Pune - 83761/- on road .
on EMI basis you need to pay 10k/yr extra :(
price is too high
Im driving this bike from two weeks 520 km done, till now i drove at a speed less than 60 kmph.
it's giving 58 KMPL,
need to see how it can give with more speed after first servicing.
Maine 10 Customer Jinhone bikes liya he call krke confirm kiya, un sub ke acording average milage is 50-52kmpl, price in delhi 81163/- On Road Price.
For Down payment (DP - 25700/- 3350x22)
now finally i am going to buy gixxer on 28th Sep.
i m planning to buy
either gixxer or xtherem !
plss say me i worry about gixxer average
cze company claim 60kmpl
in real life story is some else
how is the after sales service of suzuki plss say me
So as i think close your eyes and buy GIXXER which have no vibration on high speed which is the best in this segment and fuel efficient 60 kmp/lit
Great launch and comeback by one of the finest technology company.
this is what I was expecting from Suzuki for INDIA.
Good Mileage with Sporty Features and Looks will overtake other bikes.
Great!!!!Great!!!Great!!!
Additionally, the engine is equipped with Suzuki Eco Performance (SEP) technology, which reduces mechanical losses and maximises combustion, leading to mileage figures of 63.2kmpl.
6 gear gives you mileage UP TO 40 TO 50 KM
DONT WAIT GO FASTTTT
I m the Craziest fan of suzuki byk, Byk looks good everything is perfect but Just problem is there, Gs 150r has 6 speed and Gixxer is having 5 Speed.
I have seen this bike it was awesome and siited on it and it indicator is unbreakable made of rubber
