Benelli Tornado 302R is an entry level fully-faired sportsbike. This particular model was showcased at the 2015 EICMA motorcycle festival. It is considered to be a perfect small capacity bike for Asia-Pacific market, as the demands for such bikes in this sector is huge.
The Tornado 302R uses 300cc, parallel-twin, liquid cooled engine, capable of producing 36 bhp of maximum power @ 12000 rpm and a peak torque of 27 Nm @ 9000 rpm. Engine is mated with a 6-speed constant mesh gearbox for optimum power transmission. Tornado is capable of clocking a top speed of 170kmph with a fair amount of sudden acceleration. The upgraded track version of the same model produces 40 bhp.
The suspension system of this bike consists of 41mm USD forks at the front and monoshock suspension with an adjustable preload is used at the rear. The braking force of this bike lies within twin 260mm floating discs with a four piston caliper at the front and a single 240mm disc with a single piston caliper brake at the rear. ABS system is optional in the 302R.
Visually, this bike looks very elegant and neat. The use of Red Trellis frame gives a very attractive sporty looks to the bike from side views. Instrument console is very basic and standard without any unwanted information. The decal job and graphics on the engine cowl is pleasing and petty standard. An Italian flavour is visible throughout the styling and designing of this bike. The exhaust kit of this bike is notable with an essence of steel coating and twin ports.
Like all other Benelli models, this one too is available as a CKD unit. With the likes of Yamaha YZF-R3, KTM RC 390 and Kawasaki Ninja 300, the Tornado will have to face a tight competition.
