Yamaha R15 Ver 3, uses the new R-Style design policy. It looks much closer to their flagship model R1 and another close companion R6. This new model has received numerous upgrades on the exterior and mechanical sides. Yamaha has given a new bodywork that includes many frames and sharp edges inspired by the R6 body kit. The new Delta box frame work alone makes this bike bigger than its previous model. Some of the notable cosmetic changes include new split-dual LED headlamps, digital instrument console, tank protectors, new alloy foot- pegs, new rear view mirrors and LED tail lamps.
The 2017 Yamaha R15 uses a new 155.1cc, single cylinder, liquid cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC engine. It meshes with 6-speed manual gearbox, capable enough to generate a maximum power of 14.2 kW @ 10000 rpm and a peak torque of 14.7 Nm @ 8500 rpm. Yamaha continues to uses the same fuel injection system for the new bike with some minor refinements to seek out maximum performance. Moreover, it gets Slipper Clutch which is found in premium sportsbike for seamless gear shifting at high speeds. R15 uses inverted telescopic forks at the front and link monoshock at the rear. For stopping force, disc brakes are used at both the ends, without ABS.
Yamaha is yet to make an official statement regarding the Indian launch of new R15. The 2017 R15 has already begun their sales in the Indonesian market and the demand for this new bike has already started in India. Yamaha lovers across the country are eagerly waiting for this model and it is rumoured to be launched here by the end of 2017, with some hike in the price tag.
