Mahindra is in no mood to loose the swing earned after the launch of its best selling motorcycle Centuro, but in a hunger to settle down with more stake in the Indian two-wheeler industry. The latest rumour smoking around the firm is that Mahindra is behind working on a motorcycle. And it is likely to be a stripped down variant of the Pantero.
The upcoming machine is expected to take down Hero HF Dawn, and Yamaha Crux. It will be priced below Rs. 40,000. The machine will have only the engine and the frame work of the Pantero and will carry an all-new look. Mahindra may weld up the old round headlamp and spoke wheel to cut down the price tag of the motorbike. Along with it, customers will have to depend on kick start only to ignite up the bi-wheeler. That is no electric start will be provided to meet the estimated price tag.
For time being, we don't imagine any tuning on the Pantero's engine, which is to work on the upcoming machine as well. The Pantero is powered by a 106.7cc, Single Cylinder, 4-stroke, Air cooled, Mci-5 engine, which delivers a max power of 8.4 bhp @ 7500 rpm and a max torque of 8.5 Nm @ 5500 rpm. It is coupled with a 5 speed gear transmission. Mahindra ensures a whooping mileage of 79.5 kmpl. And the same is expected with the bi-wheeler which is to be rolled out in the coming months.
Will be a cut-down version of the Pantero.
