Bajaj Auto once the unchallenged dictator of the Indian scooter industry is all set to make its second entry with a 125 cc scooter soon. Reports echo that Bajaj R & D officials are under hard forge to pull out the extreme scooter what the Indian roads are demanding for. The scooter is expected to make its way by the second half of 2013.
Based on the Italian cult scooter, the Vespa Sprint, Bajaj launched its first scooter, the Chetak in 1972. The vehicle was much affordable for the masses. It was lovingly named "Hamara Bajaj" during those days. Once there was a time in India when people queued and waited for months for the delivery of the Chetak. Followed by the great success of the Chetak, Bajaj added Super, Priya, Sunny, Spirit, Saffire, Prowler, Kristal and lot more scooters to the family. Unfortunately, only the Sunny could survive somehow. Later, the consortium winded up its whole scooter segment by the end of 2009.
At present, Bajaj is rewinding stuffs again. The new scooter is rumoured to have a 125 cc engine, which will be refined from the existing Discover 125ST's 124.6 cc, 4 Valve Twin Spark Air Cooled engine.
"Bajaj now realizes the evaluation of motor scooters in the Indian bi-wheeler industry. And by bringing an efficient scooter, we hope to reach the top two wheeler manufacturer of the country. Remember, once we were the top scooter seller in the world by the Chetak and we have the potential to hit back. Well, our engineers are at the final touch to bring out the most demanding scooter of the era" commented an employee of Bajaj Auto.
The Indian scooter market is strongly marked by the presence of Access, Activa, Wego, Ray, Maestro, Dio, Pleasure and a lot more. So as Bajaj introduces a new scooter to the market, it would be a huge competition between the manufactures. Still, if Bajaj could ramp up a novel scooter, that bends performance, looks, fuel efficiency and reasonable pricing, then it would be a great deal by them. Let's wait and watch what Bajaj has got differently.
I will wait bajaj scooter.
