Indian subsidiary of Japanese two-wheel major Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) has come out with the launch of Dream Yuga 110cc bike. This will be Honda's first bike in the mass segment. The bike looks simple yet stylish, and the bike makers have ensured that it will be a practical and reliable commuting bike tuned well to belt out good mileage.
Dream Yuga bears a price (ex-showroom Delhi) tag of Rs 44,642 through Rs. 48,028 for its three variants namely,
Honda Dream Yuga Kick-start spoke (Rs 44,642)
Honda Dream Yuga Kick-start alloy (Rs 46,134)
Honda Dream Yuga self-start alloy (Rs 48,028)
The bike runs on a 109cc mill which belts out a maximum power of 8.5 hp @ 7500 rpm and 8.91 Nm torque at 5500 rpm and the engine is mated to a 4-speed transmission (fuel system is a carburetor). Thanks to the Honda Intelligent Ignition Control System the company claims that the Dream Yuga 110 will return an amazing 72 kmpl mileage.
What can one expect in the Honda Dream Yuga?
- Five-spoked alloy wheel with tubeless tyres
- Semi (bikini) fairing cowl in the front
- Long seat saddle (may not be quite convenient for long commuting although we would present a detailed review a little later)
- Attractive body graphics
Dream Yuga 110 comes in five colors and is launched with a tagline of 'Sach Kar Denge Sapne.' The company has roped in Bollywood star Akshay Kumar as brand ambassador for the Dream Yuga. I believe with some aggressive marketing the Honda Dream Yuga 110 can give a tough run for adversaries such as Hero and Bajaj for the entry segment. The company aims to sell about 300k units of the Dream Yuga by this yearend and is very confident it will meet the target.
