Yamaha's Ray concept scooter was the greatest attraction from Yamaha at the concluded auto expo 2012. Yamaha was always concentrating on their bike segment till the recent past and the Yamaha products were always welcomed with both hands by Indians especially youth.
Yamaha is going to invest more on scooter segment. The Ray scooter concept also strengthen the company's effort to be more active in the scooter segment as Indian people are now opting scooters also.
Recently Yamaha announced its year end financial performance. Yamaha has mentioned in its investor presentation that, it is going to launch 125 cc scooter in India as a part of business strategy for India. This clearly points the fact that Ray will be a 125 cc product.
The company plans to launch 125cc scooter to drive volume growth as last year scooter segment has grown close to 40% in India and it is expected to grow at 35% till 2015. The reason for growth in scooter segment is, growing working woman population and utility of scooter.
