Mumbai Police to Get Royal Enfield Patrol Bikes

Following the high-tech methods of developed nations' law enforcements, Mumbai Police is likely to use well equipped patrol motorcycles in the coming months. The motorcycle will be of Royal Enfield. With this Mumbai Police will become country's firs law enforcement agency to use high-tech patrol bikes.



The patrolling bikes will be customized Royal Enfield Classic 350s and the customization will be done by Gabriel Zuzarte, who is the founder of Mumbai based Road Rage Custom Builds. Being inspired by patrol bikes of FBI in the US, Zuzarte came up with his idea on such high-tech motorcycle.



The high-tech machine will be equipped with all necessary stuffs needed for a law enforcement bi-wheeler. It will be wedded with all weather cameras at both front and rear positions, which can work all the time and store visuals for evidence and investigation. Along with, GPS will be accommodated to ensure the place where the bike is at, and to where the policeman has to drive. An all weather laptop, a printer to issue tickets, basic forensic tools for emergency investigation, first aid kit and storage boxes to keep spare batteries, protective gears and other useful articles are also locked with the two-wheeler. Moreover, a red emergency light at rear, which is the hallmark of a police vehicle, will also be wedded with.

It has been sourced that, Zuzarte will disclose his concept patrol bike in August. Then, the machine will be examined by Mumbai Police department to realize the usefulness of the bike. Once the bike is approved by the department, the Maharashtra Government will order for production and will fund.

Moto-journalists in the country consider this as a huge revolution in the law enforcement department in India. Followed by Mumbai, all major cities in India are likely to have patrolling bikes in the coming years.

The Royal Enfield Classic 350, which is to be customized for Mumbai Police, comes with a 346cc,Single Cylinder, 4 stroke, Twinspark engine. The bike produces max power of 19.8 bhp @ 5250 rpm and max torque of 28 Nm @ 4000 rpm. Its engine is mated with a 5 speed gear transmission. A front disc brake has been wedded to the machine. Being equipped with a Telescopic suspension at front and Twin gas charged shock absorbers at rear, RE doesn't compromise comfort.
However, there would possibly some alterations on the Classic 350, when it will be customized by Zuzarte. The machine may have a rear disc brake, a better ergonomics, and a more powerful engine.
