US ultra premium motorcycle manufacturer, Harley Davidson Inc's subsidiary group Harley Davidson India cut price for three of its motorcycles in India. This cut down results a slash of up to Rs. 5.5 lakh. The motorcycles which are in the Softail range, the Fat Boy, the Fat Boy Special and the Heritage Classic are the 3 machines affected the price drop. Now the Fat Boy is priced Rs. 14.9 lakh, the Fat Boy Special at Rs. 15.6 lakh, and Rs. 16.25 lakh for the Heritage Classic. Earlier the machines were priced Rs. 19.51, Rs. 20 lakh and Rs. 20.51 respectively. The price drop is due to the CKD (Completely Knocked Down) assembly.
With this huge price drop, HD India hopes to have a big sale in the coming months. It was in 2010, Harley Davidson entered in to the Indian two wheeler market. Soon in the next year itself, the consortium established a CKD plant at Bawal, in Haryana, to meet the affordability of the customers.
The HD Fat boy comes with a 1690 cc, Air-cooled, Twin Cam engine. The machine produces stunning power of 132 NM @ 3250 RPM. It has a 6 speed transmission. It is moulded out on a mild steel; rectangular section tubular frame; backbone; stamped, cast, and forged junctions; forged fender supports: mid welded frame. Wedded with a 4 piston caliper type brake at front and 2 piston caliper type rear brake, the machine suddenly acts while braking. Its telescopic front fork and horizontal mounted coil over enhance better driving comfies. Additionally, ABS is provided for the safest ride.
Meanwhile, the Fat Boy Special is equipped with the same engine and technical specifications of the Fat Boy. The Fat Boy Special is lively with a better paint sketch. It has new reduced-reach handlebar that ensures a more-comfortable ergonomics. Moreover, a lower narrower seat shape gives a new bike riding position to the rider.
Whereas, the Heritage Soft Classic is also equipped with the same engine used in both the Fat Boy and the Fat Boy Special. What makes it special is precisely its appearance which is carved to be a true cruiser to saddle. It is a genuine masterpiece with all touring facilities and functions that a genuine tourer wishes to have.
Earlier Polaris Industries had noticed the launch of its subsidiary firm, Victory Motorcycle, into the Indian market to rival HD.
