Honda Discontinues Stunner CBF PGM-FI

Expected to launch an upgraded version of the Stunner CBF soon.

The key player of Indian two wheeler industry, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India, Private Limited (HMSI) discontinued the production of the Stunner CBF PGM-FI. Its unaffordable pricing for the commuters is the major reason that Honda finds to quit it. As the Stunner CBF is priced at Rs. 56,348, its PGM-FI version is tagged at Rs. 65,845 (all are ex-showroom price Delhi). This shows a difference of 9.5k that stops the ordinary commuter riders not to choose it.

The Stunner CBF PGM-FI is a slightly modified version of its sibling, the Stunner CBF. It was in 2009 when Honda introduced the bike. Being wedded with a fuel injection engine, Honda offers the best fuel efficiency in its class. It comes with a 124.7 cc, air cooled, 4-stroke, SI Engine. Enriched by maximum power of 11.6 bhp @ 8000 rpm and maximum torque of 11.2 Nm @ 6250 rpm, the machine never dissatisfies anyone who rides it. It has paper filter Viscous air filter and transmits the front wheel using 5 speed constant mesh transmission.

Meanwhile, its sibling, the CBF Stunner, is mated with a 124.7 cc, 4 Stroke, air cooled OHC Single Cylinder engine. It generates maximum power of 11 bhp @ 8000 rpm and maximum torque of 11 Nm @ 6500 rpm. It is wedded only with a normal CV type carburettor. Connected with a 5 speed gearbox, biking on the CBF Stunner becomes a good experience.

Since Honda discontinued the production of the CBF Stunner PGM-FI, the CBF Stunner will be directly rivalling its major opponent, the Hero Ignitor. The Ignitor, which is criticized for its design that is appeared as an exact copy of the CBF Stunner has already got good response across the market. Mated with the same 124.7 cc, 4 Stroke, air cooled OHC Single Cylinder engine, which produces maximum power of 11 bhp @ 8000 rpm and maximum torque of 11 Nm @ 6500 rpm, the machine tags to be the right rival of the Stunner. Additionally, Hero has equipped a kicker and digital instrument in the Ignitor, which are absent in Honda Stunner.

The launch of the Ignitor has severely increased the sales figures Hero in the last months. "With this record performance, we have made a confident beginning to the new year. Our new motorcycle launches like Ignitor and Passion X-Pro are receiving excellent customer response, while growth in our scooters, Pleasure & Maestro, is outpacing the industry growth. The overall two-wheeler industry is again showing good volumes, and we are hopeful of keeping up the momentum," said Mr. Anil Dua, Senior Vice-President of Marketing & Sales of Hero Motocorp.

Hence, concluding all, Honda is expected to launch an upgraded version of the Stunner CBF to compete with the Ignitor.
