Engine and tech: what's new
Although the Katana’s 999cc GSX-R-based engine remains fundamentally the same, complying with Euro 5 norms since 2022, Suzuki has refined the bike's electronics. Noteworthy is the integration of the Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (S.I.R.S), boasting a bidirectional quick-shift system and a refreshed five-mode traction control system. The bike also introduces the Suzuki Drive Mode Selector Alpha (SDMS), providing a selection of three power modes.
The art of riding: collectible extras
One of the unique aspects of the 2024 Katana is the inclusion of a digital lithograph from Makoto Endo, a renowned Japanese artist whose work has been previously showcased in Cycle World magazine. Owners also receive a two-year service plan under Katana Premium Care, covering routine maintenance tasks.
Visual aesthetics: color and accents
The 2024 model will also feature new color schemes, including Metallic Matte Stellar Blue bodywork, which is complimented by gold-anodized fork legs and six-spoke gold wheels. These additions underscore the bike's legacy, harkening back to designs by Hans Muth. The offering also includes various accessories like fuel tank protectors, sport screens, and clutch levers.
Price and availability
If you're looking to add this masterpiece to your garage, the 2024 Katana has an MSRP of $13,879. But act fast; Suzuki has clearly stated that availability is scarce, emphasizing a first-come, first-served approach.
