The long wait is over petrol heads. As they say, “The Bike For Big Boys” is finally here now.
Two years ago Bajaj teased their new flagship concept model Pulsar 400 CS at the Auto Expo 2014. Ever since then it has become the most desired sports bike in India. And now this concept Pulsar 400 CS has evolved to a production model named Dominar 400. The name “Dominar” is derived from Spanish, where it means, “to excel”. Earlier this bike was rumoured to be known as Kratos 400 and VS 400. However, the new flagship from Bajaj is quiet an astonishing kit to be taken into streets.
The 373.2cc single cylinder engine powers the Dominar. This same mill is featured in KTM Duke 390 with an additional power of 8 bhp. Engine gets a Bajaj treatment in the form of their Triple Spark Technology. It delivers a rated power of 35 bhp @ 8000 rpm and a peak torque of 35 Nm @ 6500 rpm. Engine is mated with a 6-speed gearbox which using a slipper clutch, which is quiet interesting move from Bajaj.
Some of other features include a dual ABS channel (for high variant), BSIV compliant engine, LED lit headlamp, all digital LCD instrument panel, dual LED tail lamp and an auxiliary display on the fuel tank are quiet magnificent. According to Bajaj the top speed of Dominar is said to be 148 kmph, and is the fastest Bajaj on Indian roads. It can also hit 0 to 100 kmph mark in 8.23 seconds, thanks to the KTM engine.
After the arrival of Dominar 400, Bajaj may reach new grounds which they might haven't traveled before. Built quality and engine refinement was happened to be one of their major issues in past models. Things may change this time with the Dominar on horizon.
