Yamaha has brought in a new variant for its commuter spec motorcycle, the Saluto – now with a disc brake setup. The 125cc segment bike is doing fairly well in the Indian market, and this move by Yamaha to introduce disc brakes to the Saluto might certainly attract more buyers.
The Rs 54,500 (Ex-Showroom - Delhi) bike from Yamaha gets the same engine as its older sibling but would receive exterior updates such as newer skin colors and updated graphics. The four new colors include Glory Green, Bold Blue, Dashing White and Majestic Red. The 125cc, blue core tech, single – cylinder engine produces 8.2 bhp of power @ 7000 RPM and 10.1 Nm of Torque @ 4500 RPM. A 4-speed gearbox is coupled to the engine, and the company claims that the Saluto can deliver 78 km/l of mileage under ideal conditions.
With a tight market space and heated competition in the commuter segment, several bike manufacturers including Yamaha are trying to do whatever it takes to attract more sales while keeping the prices at a competitive level. Plenty of new and willing bike owners are keen on spending on an entry level bike that has adequate power while delivering good mileage figures. The new Saluto, with added safety measures, thanks to the disc brake setup, might just do the trick for Yamaha and bring in more profits for the Japanese giant.
Launched at Rs 54,500 and is available at all dealerships across the country
