India's second largest motorcycle manufacturer Bajaj Auto launched its much anticipated 100 cc commuter bike, the Discover 100T. The letter 'T' refers to 'Tourer'. The Discover 100T is promoted as the most powerful and the most technically advanced motorcycle in this class. Mated with loads of features and specifications, Bajaj never pulls down the Discover 100T, but lists it on the next generation entry level bike category. The Discover 100T is priced a Delhi ex-showroom tag of Rs.50,500, which is quiet reasonable.
Bajaj Discover 100T is displaced by a 100 cc, 4-valve DTS-I engine. Furthermore, an unbelievable quantity of maximum power of 10.2 PS @ 9000 rpm and sporty torque of 9.2 Nm @ 6500rpm make it a powerful commuter bike. Unlike the other two wheelers in this same segment, the Discover 100T is 30% more powered than its competitors.
Being the first 100 cc motorcycle in the world to be mated with 4-valve DTS-I technology, the Discover 100T promises a stunning mileage figure of 87 kmpl under standard conditions. Bajaj has won the patent on 4-valve DTS-I technology.
"The all-new Discover 100T is not just an ordinary 100 cc machine. The bike delivers the power of a 125cc with the economy of a 100cc to bring joy to our valued customers. Of course, this is what Indian commuter riders are looking for. And your search ends here. Hopefully, this would be the best selling 100 cc motorcycle now onwards," said K.Srinivas, the President of motorcycle business of Bajaj Auto.
"The Indian market witnesses a steady growth of 100 cc motorcycle class. It is because of the mileage they ensure. The Discover 100T is no different as it promises a whooping economy of 87 kmpl. More importantly, the two wheeler is 30% more powerful than other 100 cc bikes," added Srinivas.
Obviously, the bike resemblances the Discover 125ST since it's moulded out in the same platform. The bike features the same graphics, multi spoke alloy wheel, DC headlamps, steeped LED tail lamp, exhaust and almost all specs that the Discover 125ST has. The major differences that distinguish the Discover 100T from the Discover 125ST are; the absence of petal disc brake at front and the 124.6 cc, 4 Valve Twin Spark Air Cooled engine.
Bajaj Auto expects to sell out 45000 units of the Discover 100T per month. The bike is available in four colors- Flame Red, Brilliant Blue, Black Red and Black Blue.
Bajaj Discover 100T will be rivaling with Hero Splendor and Passion Variants, Honda CB Twister and Dream Yuga, Suzuki Hayate, TVS Star City, and newly unveiled Mahindra Pantero and Centuro. At present Bajaj Auto has 20% stake in this 100cc class in the Indian market.
