Toyota Innova 2016 New-gen!

With the global unveiling of new gen Toyota Innova just around the corner, the manufacturer has released more images of the vehicle with all the details except pricing. The new Innova comes with a host of changes to its exterior, interior and powertrains. Toyota will launch the 2016 model of the MPV in Indonesia later this month. Given the impending 2016 Toyota Innova launch in Indonesia, the carmaker has released the official images of the car. Based on the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform, the 2016 Toyota Innova is lighter in comparison to the current model.



The new car will be available with the new top-of-the-line Q variant followed by the V and G trims. In the latest avatar, the Innova features LED projector headlamp. The front fascia gets a big hexagonal grille with two thick chrome slats on the top that blend into the headlamps. The bumper sports fog lamps and turn indicators in a single cluster with chrome housing. The top of the line Q variant features 17-inch alloy wheels in new design while the V and G trims get 16-inch alloy wheels in different design. The rear lamps are totally new in design and sport a boomerang-style design. The lamps are also larger than the current model, and the rear bumpers have also undergone tweaks. The new car measures 4,735mm in length, 1,830mm in width and 1,795mm in height with a wheelbase of 2750mm.



The new Innova will be sold with both petrol and diesel engines, with a choice of five-speed manual and six-speed automatic gearbox. The GD 2.4-litre diesel engine replaces the old KD 2.5-litre engine. The new engine develops 147bhp and 359Nm of torque, and is mated to the manual gearbox. The diesel engine, also available with automatic transmission, will have a slightly lesser torque of 342.2Nm, while power remains the same. The in-line four-cylinder 2000cc VVT-i petrol engine will develop 137bhp and 183Nm of torque, and will be available with manual and automatic transmissions. The new Innova is equipped with drive mode system. The Eco mode helps optimise the fuel efficiency while Power mode maximises engine response.



The design of the dashboard is inspired from the new Fortuner. The instrument panel is decorated with a blue-ish ambiance light, which is also the theme light inside the cabin. The new steering wheel is complete with buttons and the wooden panel is also part of a dashboard that is reserved for the V or Q variant. The instrument cluster features TFT display for Q and V variants that offer a wide range of information. The 8-inch touchscreen is equipped with web browser, HDMI, Bluetooth, smartphone integration and voice command. The new Innova also features Miracast, which connects the smartphone with the vehicle via Wifi signal.



All the variants of the new Innova is equipped with Anti lock brake system (ABS) with EBD. All the variants features dual SRS airbag and knee airbag while Q variant boast of side airbags and curtain shield airbag. The Q variant's safety is additionally spruced up with Hill Assist Control and Vehicle Stability Control while Isofix child seat tether anchors are provided in all variants. Prices are expected to be higher than the past models.
