From those different ranges, 150cc category is considered to be the best selling motorcycle segment, with its optimum engine capacity and healthy price tag. Yamaha SZ RR V2 is one of the under rated 150cc motorcycle in India.
The Engine
The SZ-RR is powered by the same 149cc, air-cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC engine with a refined tuning from the Yamaha's New Generation 'Blue-Core' technology which helps in improving the efficiency and performance of the bike. With this, mileage of the SZ-RR V2 has 11% of improvement. The engine is mated with 5-speed constant mesh gearbox for optimum power transmission. And here the engine is tuned to extract more mileage rather than the power output. The bike is doing 55kmpl of mileage in good condition.
The Design and Looks
Yamaha has designed this commuter to an another level. It is a good attention seeking motorbike with fine styling works from head to tail. From the earlier version, Yamaha has made minor changes in the styling department. The newer version has retained the headlamp cluster and those triangular mini visor upfront. Meanwhile, on the fuel tank a new cowl and at the tail section bull-horn type split grab rails are used. Yamaha has also incorporated 3D emblem on the tank cowl.
The new SZ-RR V2 features analog instrument cluster, as a part of their cost reducing policy. The design of the console is similar to the old Yamaha models of recent times. Talking about the switchgear, everything is borrowed from the FZ siblings. It looks more stylish and fit enough for the bike. Yamaha has imposed wide comfortable seats with plenty of cushion suitable enough for long effortless riding.
The Chassis, Suspension and Braking
The Yamaha SZ-RR V2 is constructed based on the diamond type frame. It is a very comfortable motorcycle to ride with. It has optimum ground clearance with good seat height makes it upright riding position. The position of footpegs are also good enough for the rider as well as pillion.
The bike features conventional telescopic suspension at the front and swingarm at the rear. At the front it features hydraulic disc brakes while drum brakes are used at rear wheels. The SZ gets 17-inch tubeless tyres for maximum performance.
The Verdict
The SZ-RR V2 comes in 3 new vibrant paint schemes with some stylish graphics works at the fenders and cowl. And the Yamaha's Blue Core Technology makes the engine bit more refined with improved fuel efficiency. Unlike Yamaha FZ, it is not built for seeking thrills or extracting every bit of bhp on the throttle. This 150cc commuter can be used as a daily purpose motorcycle with Yamaha superior built quality and mileage.
