When TVS Motorcycles launched their commuter model 'Victor' in 2001, it had become the country's first fully indigenous motorcycle. The company had given many iterations to this model with different cosmetic approaches. The latest offering under this platform is the new Victor Premium Edition. The Premium Edition model gets lots of attention-seeking elements in and around the bike.
The Engine and Performance
Victor Premium Edition derives its power from the same 109.7cc, single cylinder, 4-stroke engine found in the standard Victor. It delivers a maximum power of 9.3 bhp @ 7500 rpm and peak torque of 9.4 Nm @ 6000 rpm. The mill is mated to 4-speed constant mesh gearbox which uses chain drive transmission with the assistance of wet multi-plate clutch. Apart from the cosmetic changes, no technical changes have been made by the makers in this model.
Design and Features
First and foremost thing about the Premium Edition is the new golden and black graphic scheme. It is visible on the headlamp casing, fuel tank and on the rear fenders. The golden clutch cover on the engine casing is another attractive addition to this bike. Moreover, chrome crash guard, chrome side cover and body pillion handlebar are also found in this new model.
Interestingly, the Premium Edition gets LED Day Time Running Lights to enhance its premium feel. The seat, fuel tank capacity, handlebar and all remain unchanged from the standard Victor. It is claimed to have a maximum mileage of 72kmpl on standard driving conditions.
Suspension, Chassis and Braking
The Victor Premium Edition consists of telescopic oil damped suspension upfront and 5 step adjustable hydraulic series spring suspension at the rear. The bike is built around single cradle tubular frame which is also found in the Victor and Star models.
The braking duties of the Premium Edition are monitored by 130 mm and 110 mm drum brakes at front and back respectively. The motorcycle also comes with an optional 240 mm disc brake at the front.
The Conclusion
TVS Victor Premium Edition is much a much improved Victor only in terms of its aesthetics. It looks appealing even for a Victor hater, with the new black and golden combination throughout the body. Especially, the golden clutch plate cover is too good and it escalates the road presence of this bike.
