When the real monster gets reduced to stand humbled, it becomes another beauty in the motorcycle world. The S 1000 R, which is the semi-faired version of the S 1000 RR is all the same story as mentioned just before. It comes with a slightly tuned engine, but to perform to the fullest in low and mid ranges. It comes with the same 999cc heart seen in the S 1000 RR. Unfortunately, BMW has gone stingy here. It only generates a max power of 160 Hp and 112 Nm. Still, the bike is something to be cherished in the roadster class.

First Impression Review
The S 1000R is one hell of a roadster from BMW Motorrad, showcasing extraordinary performance and road presence. This fresh piece of a motorcycle is a stripped piece of masterpiece bound by the essentials.
The S 1000 R in form is a semi-faired version of the S 1000 RR but with a slightly tuned engine. BMW has given the same 999cc 4 stroke inline 4-cylinder engine with water/oil-cooled technology. This powerful mill produces a maximum power of 165 hp at 11,000 rpm and a peak torque maximum of 114 Nm at 9,250 rpm. The S 1000 R makes use of a Constant-mesh 6-speed gearbox as its gearbox and is chain driven.
A very sturdy Aluminium composite bridge frame is used on the bike and the frame sits partially self-supporting engine. The front suspension is an Upside-down telescopic fork Ø 46 mm, compression and rebound stage adjustable while the Rear wheel location/suspension is an Aluminium 2-sided swing arm, rebound damping adjustable. A Cast aluminium wheels form the wheels of this naked monster along with 120/70 ZR 17 tyres at the front and a 190/55 ZR 17 at the rear side.
BMW has given Twin disc brake, floating brake callipers, radial 4-piston fixed calliper, diameter 320 mm, 5 mm thick at the front and a Single disc brake, single piston floating calliper, diameter 220 mm, 5 mm thick at the rear. For effective braking, a disengageable BMW Motorrad Race ABS (part-integral) is given in this roadster. The S 1000 R stands on a wet weight of 207 kg.
