The Bajaj Pulsar has long been a staple in the world of motorbiking, offering a reliable, comfortable, and adrenaline-pumping experience. With the introduction of the N250, Bajaj pushes the envelope further. It's bigger, bolder, and more powerful than its predecessors, becoming the biggest Pulsar to date with a 249.07cc engine. But is it a significant step up? Let's delve deeper.
Performance and Handling
Under the hood, the Pulsar N250 houses a single-cylinder, 4-stroke, SOHC, 2-valve, oil-cooled, FI engine with a displacement of 249.07 cc. The engine can generate a maximum power of 24.5 PS @ 8750 RPM and a maximum torque of 21.5 Nm @ 6500 rpm. The top speed touches a thrilling 140 kmph, promising a smooth ride, but also the potential for speed enthusiasts to test their limits.
The power delivery feels linear and smooth, with a nice torque band in the mid-range. The Assist & Slipper clutch proves to be quite effective, ensuring smoother downshifts and lesser clutch effort.
The handling is impressive, thanks to the alloy wheels and wide tubeless tyres. These provide a stronger grip, essential for high-speed rides and sharp turns. It's quite nimble around corners and doesn't feel heavy despite its kerb weight of 162 kg.
Braking and Suspension
The Pulsar N250 is equipped with dual-channel ABS braking technology, boasting a 300mm disc brake at the front and a 230mm disc brake at the rear. This setup ensures ultra-safe braking performance and instant stopping power, making high-speed journeys more secure.
Suspension duties are handled by a telescopic (37mm) front suspension and a monoshock with Nitrox at the rear. The new mono-shock suspension provides commendable comfort, adeptly absorbing shocks and bumps.
Design and Styling
The design of the Pulsar N250 is stylish and edgy, with its all-black theme complemented by gloss/matte high sparkle paints with slivers of silvers and reds. The crystalline LED tail lamps add to its overall visual appeal. The seating position is comfortable with a seat height of 795mm, suitable for riders of various heights. The motorcycle also boasts a decent ground clearance of 165mm.
The Bajaj Pulsar N250 flaunts a unique infinity display, offering a modern and aesthetically pleasing console. The console features useful indicators like gear, clock, fuel efficiency, and range. For convenience, a USB mobile charging port is included.
Fuel Efficiency and Price
The Pulsar N250 offers a satisfactory mileage of 35 km per litre. Though it might not be the most efficient in the segment, the performance and power compensate for it. With an ex-showroom price of Rs. 1,49,978 in Delhi, it's reasonably priced considering the features and specs.
Verdict
With a powerful engine, efficient braking system, and an impressive suspension, the Bajaj Pulsar N250 Dual Channel ABS is a worthy contender in the 250cc segment. Its distinct design and the infinity display make it stand out. Whether you're an avid biker or someone looking for an everyday ride with the added thrill, the Pulsar N250 doesn't disappoint.
