Bajaj Auto continues its streak of producing stunning motorcycles with the introduction of the Bajaj Pulsar 220F BS6. This latest model brings in a refined powertrain, complying with the Bharat Stage VI (BS6) emission norms, and continues to provide the exhilarating ride experience Pulsar is famous for.
Design and Styling
The Pulsar 220F BS6 remains true to the iconic Pulsar design DNA. It retains the muscular and aggressive look synonymous with the Pulsar lineage. The bike is available in two robust color options: Black Red and Black Blue. Its overall dimensions make it an ideal mid-range commuter, measuring 2035 mm in length, 750 mm in width, and 1165 mm in height.
Engine and Performance
The heart of the Pulsar 220F BS6 is a robust 220 cc 4-stroke, 2-Valve, Twin Spark BSVI Compliant, DTS-i Fuel Injection (FI) engine that's oil-cooled. The engine delivers a power of 20.4 PS at 8500 rpm and a torque of 18.55 Nm at 7000 rpm. The power-to-weight ratio is impressive, considering the 160 kg kerb weight. This power delivery provides a punchy performance across all rev ranges. The BS6 compliance ensures lower emissions, making the bike more environment-friendly without compromising performance.
Ride and Handling
The bike features a wheelbase of 1350 mm, giving it a stable ride even at high speeds. It uses a telescopic front suspension with anti-friction bush and a 5-way adjustable Nitrox shock absorber at the rear. This setup ensures a comfortable and controlled ride, even over rough surfaces. The 165 mm ground clearance allows the bike to handle Indian road conditions effortlessly.
Braking and Safety
The Pulsar 220F BS6 is fitted with a 280 mm Disc at the front and a 230 mm Disc at the rear, offering ample braking power and control. Together with alloy wheels and tubeless tyres of dimensions 90/90 - 17 (front) and 120/80 - 17 (rear), the bike assures confidence in the rider while maneuvering at high speeds and during quick stops.
Lighting and Electricals
The bike comes equipped with a 12V full DC battery. The headlamp setup comprises a low-beam projector lamp and a high-beam Ellipsoidal lamp, both of 55W. The bike also features Auto Headlamp On (AHO) for improved visibility in different lighting conditions.
Fuel Efficiency and Capacity
The Pulsar 220F BS6 has a generous fuel tank capacity of 15 litres, making it a good choice for long rides. Although official mileage figures are not mentioned, based on the history of Pulsar motorcycles and their efficient DTS-i engines, we can expect a respectable fuel economy.
Price
The ex-showroom price in Delhi for the Pulsar 220F BS6 is Rs. 1,23,245. Given the features, power, and performance on offer, this motorcycle offers good value for money.
Verdict
The Bajaj Pulsar 220F BS6, with its power-packed performance and sleek design, carries forward the legacy of the Pulsar range. With added benefits of BS6 compliance, this bike continues to be a strong contender in the mid-range sports commuter segment. Whether it's for daily commuting, occasional long rides, or spirited weekend trips, the Pulsar 220F BS6 is more than equipped to handle it all.
