Bajaj Avenger Street 150

Complete details of Avenger Street 150 Motorcycle

Launched in India in October 2015. Avenger Street 150 is not in production now.

The Avenger 150 Street is based on the older Avenger series platform. It is the cheapest cruiser bike on Indian roads. The updated Avenger series was launched in 2015. Due to the low pricing, Street 150 has become the best selling Avenger model.

This motorcycle is based on the renowned 150cc single cylinder DTS-i engine that has been powering the best seller Pulsar 150 for years. Bajaj has did some modifications to this engine. It produces 14 bhp @ 9000rpm and a maximum torque of 12.5 Nm @ 6500 rpm. Also this engine is remapped to generate low and mid-range torque. Engine is mated with a 5 speed gear box.

The cosmetic changes of Street 150 includes a slightly lowered handle bar, new black alloy wheels, a new grab rail, black rubber bellow on the front forks and new silencer kit. The styling of Street 150 is similar to the cruiser motorcycles of Harley Davidson. It comes in two paint schemes.

Street 150 has a fuel tank capacity of 14-litre and combining this with mileage of 50 kmpl, this cruiser can be used for long distance motoring. It has a 240mm disc at the front and 130mm drum at the rear, combines the braking department. Due to the lack of any alternatives, it doesn't have to face any direct competition from the market.

First Impression Review

The Bajaj Avenger Street 150 is a very least expensive cruiser motorcycle one can buy in India. Bajaj has done serious cosmetic changes and design changes to give the Avenger a new look and feel. Bajaj has developed the Avenger by taking the same engine that is used by their Pulsar series and provides good riding comfort with its comfortable seat and cruiser riding position.

Bajaj Avenger Street 150 Trip

The Avenger Street looks more promising and stylish than the previous modes, but Bajaj could have added more muscle to the Avenger and this could have increased its ownership pan India. However, the Avenger Street manages to give a classic cruiser design and style paying homage to the design and making of the Yamaha Enticer and Kawasaki Eliminator.

Bajaj Avenger Street 150

The new Avenger Street get very comfortable low-slung seats and a street-inspired cruiser handlebar. The incorporation of the low-slung seat provides more centre of gravity and gives the rider an exact cruiser style seating position and ensures long rids with minimum fatigue.

Bajaj Avenger Street 150

The Cruiser handle and the low-slung comfortable seating position completes the design stance and looks of the Avenger Street. The handle provides good handling comfort at all speeds and matches with the overall ergonomics of a good cruiser.

Engine and Performance
The Avenger 150 comes powered by a 150cc motor that produces a maximum power of 14 bhp @ 9000rpm and a maximum peak torque of 12.5 Nm @ 6500 rpm. The engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox and is tweaked to produce more torque at low rpms. Bajaj uses the same 150cc engine to power their Pulsar 150 with the same engine, but Avenger undergoes some tweaks to make it work as a cruiser on roads.

Bajaj Avenger Street 150 Engine

The engine produces friction free power at low rev ranges and provides good power at variable speeds and rev ranges. The Avenger sits very low and comes with a Ground Clearance of 169 mm and weighs just 148kg.

Chasis, Suspension and Braking

The Avenger sits on a Tubular Double Cradle Type Frame, while the suspension duties of the bike are done with Telescopic with anti-friction bush at the front and a Twin shock absorber at the rear. The suspension setup is quite good on the bright side and gives enough handling control and prevents any shocks and vibrations from uneven roads to enter the riders bay.

Bajaj Avenger Street 150 Alloy Wheels

Bajaj has given alloy wheels to the Avenger series and this will help riders to incorporate tubeless tyres while going long rides. The Tubeless tyres will be easy to fix flat tyres and this is an added advantage for Avenger users. A 240mm Disc brake is used at the front and drum brakes are used at the rear of this cruiser and give enough braking power even at high speeds.

Verdict

The Avenger Street 150 looks like a decent cruiser and it has all the looks and shapes to claims to be one. Even though the bike is less on muscles its 150cc motor provides enough power to take it around for a ride. The engine produces enough power and provides good torque which enables even beginners to handle it very easily. The seat height of this bike is very low and this makes it easy for short people to handle the bike very easily. While riding the Avenger Street 150 some may feel that it comes with a low power engine, even though there are people who are quite happy riding around cities with it. However, it is high time that Bajaj should re-introduce the Avenger models with more muscle and a more powerful engine.
