How many km we can drive continuesly,i mean non stoply.

Well, it depends on how driven one is to drive. In an ideal situation for a comman person, not more than 1400 kms, but a seasoned person or one who is part of an endurance race,eg. Le-man, apart from driving more than 24 hours, they can drive for approx 2200 kms non-stop
Answered by Nikhil Koppikar on 13-02-2012
Depends o the bike and the rider. For a normal air cooled 100-150 cc bike, take a five minute break after every 50 kms or 1 hour of riding, whichever comes first.

Excellent advice, Nikhil and Sam
As for me, i normally stop for a fag and leak every 100 kms or so. so pit-stop time comes to around 10 minutes per break - what Sam has hinted above.
Amx i have rode "non-stop" with pit-stops in between was 14 hours total on my RX-100.
As for driving car, i actually drove continuously my Indigo-Marina for 16 hours on mountain-roads, with just three pit-stops.
This brings us back to what Nikhil has mentioned indirectly above - experience is the best teacher :-)

I dont think there is any hard and fast rule. Usually driver gets tired, engines dont. I have driven Suzuki GS150R 400 KM Mumbai-Pune & return with 3 breaks. Two toilet breaks of 2 min with engine on and one 10 minutes break with engine off. Nothing went wrong in whole process.

Hero Splendor Plus 2006 model, 100 cc bike. You can ride non stop for 3 hours or upto 120 kms with average speed of 40 kms per hour on this bike. Stop and take a break for 10 to 15 mins. Nothing will happen to bike absolutely no problems. I did several thousands of kms covering whole of tamil nadu and kerela nothing happened to bike not even a single screw came off the bike. It lived up to the expectations.

Im sure most of the modern 4 stroke engines are capable of doing long distance without any problems. I feel it is much more depends on climate, road conditions & riders capacity. Every weekend I travel from Pune to Mumbai rtn on my Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350. In the past I have ridden from Mumbai to Goa on my pulsar 180, & Yamaha ybx125. In fact ridden my activa to Pune & Shirdi without any fuss. I believe the most important thing while riding is riders comfort. Mostly Royal Enfield bikes barring GT, Pulsar, karizma, Suzuki Gs 150 etc are good bikes for long distance as on them rider sits upright but on my brothers RC390 my Pune trip was painful. This bike is insane fast but very uncomfortable for long ride.

First of all Thanks for all your earlier comments which helped me a lot. I covered 510 km from my Honda Activa(HET engine 2013 make). I covered total distance from Bangalore to Gokarna in 10.5 hours. Started my journey early at the morning 4:30,as it was too cold climate its gave good encourage to drive smoothly, stopped 5min after covering 120km and journey continued till total distance of 240 km within 4 hours. Stopped for breakfast, its also long break for my Activa(around 25min). Then again journey continued till coverage of 150 km with 1 small 5 min break. After covering 390 km i filled my fuel tank and done air check for wheels also took juice as it was sunny. Then my aim was to reach Gokarna as i was near to my target.... Finally covered 510 Km with 4 breaks(5min+25min+5min fuel fill+10min)in 10 n half hours....
Note: 1) Have liquid items in travel.
2)If possible take Lemon juice with salt(better for body relaxation and acidity as you will be riding bike in sunny).
3)Activa is forced cool engine but no need to worry about engine heating problem, if you will give 10min breaks thats more enough for engine to decrease the temperature.
4) Activa having small 5+ ltr fuel tank so keep on noting about fuel stations, especially if you are riding on National Highways.
5) Dnt expect more mileage compared to your normal mileage, these gear-less vehicles will decrease there mileage when you travel long distances. For example if your getting 50km/ltr in normal condition means you will get around 44-45km/ltr in long drives.
6) better to maintaine the avg speed of 60.

I went to choral(comes after Indore) and was coming back. It was nearly 250kms with my stunner 125cc but its piston gets damaged due to overheating.
So i think riding non-coolant bikes at high speed should be given more breaks.
Answered by Parikshit Singh Rathore on 10-01-2016
It depends on the type of engine (ie: air cooled or oil cooled) and engine oil we use. For continuous driving, using an high grade performance oil like Motul 5100/7100 is highly recommended.
In my experience i have driven 270 kms on Yamaha FZS, with Motul 5100 oil in 3 hrs, with 5 mins break for each hour.
Please check for engine oil level periodically.

I have driven from my town mayiladuthurai to kerala kayamkulam 597kms, only stopped 3 mins for refuelling in tenkasi and stoped to go for a loo twice with bike on.
The engine oil lost its quality, it went like water, so I changed it, from then whenever I change engine oil it goes thinner before I finish 1000kms
The engine noise and feel was very different. I would say don't do non stop riding in an aircooled engine. Even the mechanic didnt know what was wrong because the bike had only done 8500kms on odo
A car would be liquid cooled so you can tour non-stop but an aircooled bike its a different story

You can go with bike but body pain will be a lot. Best season for leh trip is September for car as well as bike. My suggestion is go through srinager and return via manali. If you are planning to go via manali then you should be well prepared mantle and physically. I will never suggest anyone for bike trip to leh. Always better that go by car then take bullet 500 on rent for all nearby places to visit.

Well My longest to say is Kerala - Bangalore - Kodaikanal - Kerala (0KM- 630KMS- 483KMS- 150KMS). My ride- Honda Unicorn 2013.
Breaks - Every 100 KMS for 10 Minutes.
Speed - Between 70KMPH to 90 KMPH. Do not ride on the same speed. Keep increasing and decreasing per your convenience.
Things to ensure -
Change engine Oil before the trip. Ensure Clutch, Accelerator and from break cables are FIT enough. Check both the tire's well. Ensure Good Chain Lubrication and Condition Sprocket. Headlamps, Indicators, Brake Lights and Side Mirror Plays a Major role. Keep it Perfect.
If its Day time, and climate is hot, then avoid full tank, Rather go for a little above 3/4th of the tank Capacity. Well that's pretty much. Happy ride = Happy You.

Hi Friends,
I am planning for a long ride about 250 kms in one day with my New Honda Livo Bike 110cc. Please guide me what are the complecacy will face in road while riding and suggest me the best ideas for this...
Answered by S Pal on 13-05-2016
With my experiences of saddle sore, I can say that a well maintained engine can be run continuously (below rpm redline) till the tank gets aired. I have run my Yamaha Fazer 150cc bike for 350kms non stop and then stopped 5-10 mins to get refuelled and again did the same. I have ridden it all the time 110+kmph as per the road conditions and competed 1680 kms in 24 hours. So, I can say a fit bike can run till it has fuel (normal tank). Engine stress tests are conducted and then only the size of tank is decided. At fast speed you get less mileage and tank range gets reduced and vice versa.
Answered by Akshay Kumar on 18-05-2016
Riding 100 cc bikes depends mainly on engine condition. Most of the 100 cc bikes are air cooled,so if the outside temperature is high then the engine will overheat because engine can't expel it's heat.Engine oil quality may also determine the distance that the engine can work well.

I have ridden my Suzuki Hayate (113cc) bike non-stop for 120kms on ghats section and plain roads of Wayanad and Kozhikode of Kerala District. There was no problem of overheating or any such. Bike was in immaculate condition and is serviced on time. And, as for me, its not the bike, its the rider who makes sense of how far you can go. It is also advised to change engine oil before you are doing a long ride, because bad oil can damage your pistons due to overheating, whereas a good oil can stop your engine from overheating. Also, check brakes, tyres, clutch cable, lubrication, headlights and signal lights when planning a lng ride. thanks and regards

You should take 5 to 10 mins break for every 60 to 70kms in 110cc engines.. myself covered so many long drives in a day with my TVS jupiter. In that max
1) Bengaluru to Talakaveri via Mysore up and down(640kms in 14 hrs):- Early morning 5 o'clock I left bengaluru and reached talakaveri around 12pm afternoon taken 3 to 4 stops. Left there by 1:30pm and reached bengaluru by evening 7pm taken around 4 to 5 stops.
Also I covered Bengaluru-Pavagada -Bengaluru(240kms up&down)
Bengaluru-Melu kote- Bengali(250kms)
Bengaluru-sringeri-Horanadu-Dharmastala(reached Dharmastala @evening around 6pm, morning left from Bengaluru around 5am covered 540kms in a 13hours)
Bengaluru- mysore-Bengaluru(260kms)
Bengaluru-Male Mahadeshwara- Bengali(480kms)
Bengaluru-Biligiri hills- Bengaluru (around 350kms) etc...
Till today no problem with my TVS Jupiter.
But one should take pit stop around 60 to 70 kms in 110cc air cooled vehicles.

Answered by Ravikumar Perumal on 19-10-2020
It depends on how well you have to do travellling. If you drives how gently are you driving with your bike. I have travelled 2000 km long ride by 110 cc honda bike. I took 80 breaks in my whole journey including night stay. My bike never turns back to me. If you takes care of your bike, it also takes care of you. This is proven truth, engine never tires, we get tired. Parally we have to take care of bike. Just do some basic check of your bike before starting a journey.
1) Start the engine. Keep it run for 10 min at idle speed.
2) always check & clean air filter after every 1000 km.
3) Check & clean the spark plug after every 1000 km.
4) check engine oil quality & level after every 1000km.
5) check the chain. It should not be too tight or to loose.
6) All these are general things but actual thing you have to do is engine efficiency. So never give the high aceeleration to any engine beyonds it's capacity. So for this main & important thing is if you keep your bike for 10 min ideal run the engine oil gains it's lubrication capacity. So engine piston can run efficiently, parrally all engine inside items became lubricant. Then if you listen to your engine sound sweetness. If it sounds smooth during idle start then your bike is ok. Next & final is if you keep your hand near the engine & if you gets hot air that is fine after every 100km nonstop ride but if you gets too heat from your exhaustion pipe starting portion then engine overheating started. Finally if you feel the engine is blowing hot air from 10 inch distance then final stage of overheating is in progress. Still engine will work but if you do more overheat than that it can show any problem. So never ride in high rpm. Just listen that engine is creating smooth sound or more metallic sound. If more metallic means more rpm driving. That will create problem of your engine. So if you drive your bike for getting smooth sound from engine then drive at that acceleration which does smooth sound of the engine then you will get more milease also. I am getting around 70 kmph mileage in highway at 60-70 km speed which does not create any engine or starting issue till now. If air fuel mixture is ok then fuel must burn properly inside the engine. That is ok or not for that check spark plug, if is colour is brownish & little black at the burning area & outside portion light black then engine is in ok condition. So now Acceleration is in your hand.
I have not changed the spark plug, air filter & chain till now after 40k km. All are working smoothly.
Hope it helps.
Answered by Abhirup on 30-10-2020
From my experience,it totally depends upon you and how well you maintain your machine.
Recently Did a 660KM ride within 12 hour that too with normal rode condition (with some smooth riding condition) on my 150CC suzuki and a lots of break due to habit. Agreeing to my fellow rider,if you drive fast (take small breaks once in 50-100KM) just to refresh your mind. Modern machine will take care of your need within this short time dont worry.

From chandigarh to kashmir. I started journey from chandigarh on my honda 90-100 CC CB Twister. We were two people on one bike but he did not know about riding so it was only my job to ride continously well we had 50 kg of laguage with us. We left from chandigarh and reached jalandhar i,e 150 km in 3 hours and the took a tea break after we started towards jammu that was almost 250 km and took 2nd break for tea and cigrattes. After reaching jammu we took a breakfast break for 20 mins and started moving towards Srinagar that was 350 km from jammu, There was lot of traffic jam, landslides in mid way so we took 3 lil cigrate breaks until we reached srinagar and had a good meal for 30 mins and started moving towards kupwara that was 100 km more.( 150+250+350.= 750 km with 6 breaks.).... From jammu my bike was getting very hot coz it was also on july 10 so it was already hot weather but we had to take a cigratte break after every 120km from jammu to srinagar coz it was very hilly, hot, landslides, high traffic jam,lot of weight. At last i really enjoyed the ride & i would like to say that it depends on rider but ur bike should be completle serviced before the trip to avoid breakdown. I have CB twister, Pulser 220. But now im thinking to buy 220 avenger cruise for my long rides, Kindly suggest if anyone should i go for it or any other , my requirement is good posture , long rides with no breaks ,Hussle free rides

Me and my 9 year old son travelled almost 4800 km from Kerala to Nepal via Gujarat, MP, UP in Bajaj CT 110 X. Average journey 250 to 300 km in a day. Almost 100 km at a stretch without any break....We haven't faced any issue even it was in summer time.

Well, i have a Dominar 250 BS4 model and i drove my bike for 250 km on 3-4 hours without any stoppage.
during this ride i didn't felt any kind of problem to ride the bike.
Also
Once i've drove my bike 1200 km in one day.
Uttar Pradesh to Chattisgarh in one go.
Bike was very much comfortable and 2-3 stoppage of 10 min was taken during this ride.
Dominar 250 can go upto 1500 km with one go without any problem.

My bike is pulsar 125 cc , i started in city first for 30 km and later I enter in highway then I continue for 80km continue ,
I take break like 15 min to 18 min the engine get little cool and the entire circulation oil will be come down , when ever you take break keep bike with double stand , so the heated oil will get easy come down
I observed if drove 40 km and u stop for 10 to 15 min and again you start u can feel free cruising and free fast pickup in middle of 3 to 4 rpm
You can feel speed moment on pickup after the small break of drove for 40 km
Coming to the point I drove totally 260 km
For every 100 kms break , leave about timing , i Cruze 85 to 88 and some time 100 to 105
Some time 90 to 95 depending on road and air condition, don't Cruze on same speed of long time change the mode of speed position
So non stop ur can drive how many kms u want u can buy later engine condition will be totally change and chain packet also .
If drive for 200+ kms on top gear all of sudden if u drive 2nd and 3rd gear will low speed the chai packet will be get loose , try to make tight after every 150 to 300 km one step ride
Always try to down the gears after u RPM of the bike will come down and don't change before it will impact on engine gear box ...
If you drive in city longer time some time you need make some speed to reach top gear

When riding my Pulsar 125 cc bike, I start with a 30 km ride in the city, then continue for 80 km on the highway. After riding for 40 km, I take a break of 10 to 15 minutes. During the break, I keep the bike on its double stand, allowing the heated oil to settle. This short break enhances the cruising and pickup, especially in the 3 to 4 RPM range.
During a total ride of 260 km, I take breaks every 100 km. While cruising, I vary my speed between 85 to 88 km/h and sometimes reach 100 to 105 km/h, depending on road and air conditions. It’s important not to maintain the same speed for long durations; instead, change the speed periodically.
Driving nonstop for extended distances can impact the engine condition and chain sprocket. If you ride for over 200 km on top gear and suddenly shift to 2nd or 3rd gear at low speeds, the chain sprocket may become loose. Therefore, tighten the chain after every 150 to 300 km.
When downshifting, wait for the RPM to decrease to avoid impacting the engine gearbox. Additionally, after extended city rides, occasionally reaching top gear is beneficial.

What problems am I going to face and what precautions should I take ??
Please advice me via E - Mail.

How can I drive say some tips with 8 hrs I have to back again 670km....what to do .
Mail I'd:karthikutty143.kk@gmail.com
but please always check your bike before every long ride.
So i think riding non-coolant bikes at high speed should be given more breaks.
In my experience i have driven 270 kms on Yamaha FZS, with Motul 5100 oil in 3 hrs, with 5 mins break for each hour.
Please check for engine oil level periodically.
And itz covered 38000 now. I'm planning for a 400 km non stop ride
Is that possible ??
Any one please answer me

please tell me is it not bad for a 160cc bike?...
My number - 09735096878
journey started morning 8AM and reached at 8PM
breaks 2 hours
New vehicle so maintained starting 25,30,speed and in NH road maintained 35,40km economy speed
for every 50km 5 or 10 or 15 min break is good as engine cools down
vpcg.gec.vg@gmail.com
The engine oil lost its quality, it went like water, so I changed it, from then whenever I change engine oil it goes thinner before I finish 1000kms
The engine noise and feel was very different. I would say don't do non stop riding in an aircooled engine. Even the mechanic didnt know what was wrong because the bike had only done 8500kms on odo
A car would be liquid cooled so you can tour non-stop but an aircooled bike its a different story
It is best advised to take 10 mins break after every 2 hrs of riding.

I drove my yamaha yd125 bike NONSTOP from shirdi to pune (220km) in 3hours
Similarly,
NONSTOP alibaugh to Pune in 3hr20min
Mine was a new bike. Still I checked with mechanic about clutch, chain, brake.... before starting the ride.
After 70-75 kms pls take a break for a smoother long ride.
I used to change Engine oil as per the check sheets. and by experience what feels bad I will change the spares and do corrections.
